Best WWII Biography for Young Readers

Move out of the way Anne Frank, this book takes WWII and the Holocaust to a heroic new level. I read this book with my students every year when they study the holocaust. It really gives students a different perspective on the war and unsung heroes. Hannah's story needs to live on in the minds of our students. I only wish it was still being printed.

A correction in the reviews

I have to correct some history here from earlier reviews. Hannah Senesh didn't join the US Military. She went from her native Hungary to live in the British Protectorate territory of Palestine, which is today Israel and Jordan. She volunteered to parachute into Europe, along with other Jews with connections to Europe (and also native speakers of those languages) as part of a special British Intelligence operation. The idea was first proposed to the British High Command by the Israelis. And there are streets named after her in Israel because she is a national heroine.

So Young to Die

This is a great book about a brave Jewish girl, Hannah Senesh grew up in Budapest while Hitler's influence. She was a good and hardworking student when she was young. She left her home when she was 18 and moved to Palestine to study. Later in 1943, she joined the British Air Force to rescue Allied pilots and Jews, include her mother. At last, she was captured by the Nazis during a missions and was executed. After i read this book, i felt that Hannah Senesh was brave, and i felt sad to her execution.

So Young to Die

This is about a Jewish girl named Hannah Senesh who grew up while Hitler's commands were spreading around Europe. She was a brave girl who wanted to save many people who were sent to the concentration camp so she joined the British Air Force, the most courageous rescuers. ALthough many men were interested in her and wanted to marry her, she wouldn't accept. She was never married and died at a young age. Later she was executed by the Nazis at a camp. She is known to be one of the most brave and courageous women. I read this book because I thought her story was very interesting. This book was aslo recommended by my mom. She also thought this book was interesting because she likes biography. This book teaches you that being brave can get you where you want. I recommend this book to everybody. My favorite part in this book was when Hannah Senesh met her mother at the camp and they sent messages to each other across the room. They were so happy to see each other beacuse they haven't seen each other for a couple of years. The part where I didn't like was when she was taken outside and was executed. She didn't deserve to die because she was inisint and didn't do anything bad she was trying to save her people.

great book

It tells about the life of a Jewish family during World War II, and how they had to leave their home. Hannah joined the U.S. Army a few years later after they left Norway. I read this when I was in fifth grade, and I've remembered it ever since. It had a big impact on me, and now I'm an eleventh grader and I still find myself reading it every now and then. I recommend this book to everybody!
