The story of So-Na and Hae-Gi continues

In the first volume of Snow Drop, I remarked about how there seemed to be a lot of information withheld, and how that made me want to read more. In this volume, some new character information is revealed. We get to find out exactly why So-Na originally dropped out of school. We get to see more of her current family situation, and we get to learn a little more about Hae-Gi. All of this character development helps make up for the at times melodramatic plot. In this volume, So-Na and Hae-Gi begin to grow closer. As they realize that they have more in common than they first thought, their constant bickering begins to transform into something sweeter and their cold exteriors begin to melt. That's not the only thing going on in this volume. Hae-Gi's future is on the line when he decides to take up a controversial modeling gig to help his mother. During this time, Ha-Da continues his relentless pursuit of Ko-Mo, not realizing that his dream girl is actually a man. At the end of the volume, a new character gets introduced, and it looks like she's going to shake up the Snow Drop world. As I mentioned before, the plot proves to be a little melodramatic. In a way this makes sense because hey, is there a more melodramatic time in your life then high school? Some of the plot points can be a little irritating, but there are aspects of the characters that help make up for it. As So-Na and Hae-Gi begin the transformation from strangers to possible romance, the characters become far more interesting and complex. Although we have yet to see any real layers in the other characters, the reader is under the impression that there are more of them for us to see in future volumes. Again, the art is good, not great, and is occasionally hampered by points of awkwardness, but it manages to be nice enough as to not really distract you from the story. The volume ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. We have a budding relationship that has so many odds stacked against it, the reader has to wonder how long it will last. We also have a great new character introduced at the end who might give us more insight to So-Na and Hae-Gi's past. I can't wait to see what happens in the next volume!

Snow Drop: Book #2, better then the first.

The first volume of Snow Drop was very melodramatic, but the second volume is much more humorous. While there is still a fair amount of meldodrama, it is more down-played. Possibly it is because we have been introduced to the main characters and their problems, so now we can better follow their escapades without having quite as much drama. In this Volume, the relationship between Hae-gi and So-na is really starting to heat up. However, as soon as their relationship starts going So-na's over protective father comes back home from a business trip. Still, even though So-na has to be careful around her father, she is starting to feel that she can open up to Hae-gi, and that he's really not the monster she first thought him to be. As all of this is Happening, So-na's friend Ha Da is still chasing after Ko Mo, he still has'nt realized that Ko Mo is not a girl, nor has So-na or Hae-gi bothered to tell him. One of my favorite things about Snow Drop is the drawings. I adore the art style, and the outrageous facial expressions the characters make, it is makes the comic hilarious despite the drama. Most of the time that is what will make you laugh, the facial expressions. At first the drawing style grated on my nerves because I was not used to the Korean drawing style, which is slightly different than the Japanese drawing style. However, once I adjusted to this drawing style I really began to enjoy it. It is a pleasant change from what I normally see the drawing in manga, the Korean style is usually a little sharper or more angular. If like me, you might have been put off by the first volume, please pick up the second, it will not let you down! Volume 2 is much better, and there is romance in this volume, not an oversaturation, but enough. There is also plenty plenty of fighting between the characters that continues from the first volume. I am glad my feelings about Snow Drop were right, about improving after the first Volume. God Bless & *enjoy* ~Amy
