The closest neighbors, Sir Hugh and Miss Laura Brant, are not welcome. The three young men are usually at each other's throats. There is plenty of money, but the mansion is decaying and neglected. Deborah discovers that there are smugglers at work in the neighborhood. A local Excise officer has been brutally murdered. Sir Hugh believes that Lucius Darrell is the smuggling ringleader. He is determined to bring him to justice. Deborah has to decide whom to trust if she is too safely escape Mullion Hall. An entertaining Gothic romance. Recommended.

orig.title: Smuggler's Moon

This is a very entertaining gothic/regency Romance. Complete with an innocent orphan,Deborah. Mysterious guardian/uncle and two handsome male cousins. Handsome ,yes. Trustworthy, maybe not. Don't forget the menacing Mullion Hall, the wild English coast and the evils of smuggling. The hero is properly brooding, the villians dasterly and duplicitous, the heroine confused but intrepid. Lot's of action and romance. Originally published in paperback in 1966. Most enjoyable.
