thrilling

I like authors who use the same characters from book to book. I read THE CAPTAIN'S FUND first and then this one. I enjoyed learning more about the people Harris created. Harris starts the story right at page one and the action continues until the bad guy surfaces.I found the people in the story to be real and believeable. I do hope Harris writes another one.

Wow! I enjoyed the books

A friend of mine gave me this book and I bought The Captain's Fund. I immediately went to the website to find out more about the author and the story. I like knowing the background of the characters and setting. Read both books by Harris. They read fast and easy.If you enjoy a story the moves and doesn't give you pages and pages of description, try Smoldering and The Captain's Fund. The State Trooper characters are real people you get to know.

I read both books by Harris

I read The Captain's Fund and enjoyed it so much I read Smoldering. I like the characters. Harris includes just enough detail to the story without letting the action get bogged down.

Good investigation

I didn't think I'd like a book about a fire investigation - I was wrong. I read The Captain's fund, so I knew the characters and decided to give Smoldering a try. I enjoyed the book.

The Burning Truth

Ms. Harris has done it again with her latest novel, "Smoldering." From start to finish, the excitement continues to build in this fiery murder mystery. The readers will be held in suspense as they try to figure out "who done it." I found it almost impossible to put down once I started reading it. I highly recommend this along with Ms. Harris' previous novel, "The Captain's Fund." Use two chairs because you will be sitting on the edges of both.
