Great recipes, pictures

I've tried probably half the recipes in this compact cookbook and have yet to be disappointed. With the tapas craze in North America, it's nice to be able to have your own tapas party all out of one book - I've done this several times with really great success! Each recipe has its own page with a matching picture opposite, making it very easy to identify what you want to make without delving into the index or having to read each recipe. The book is broken down into sections based on the type of appetizers: "Nibbles" includes mostly dips and crackers, which in most cases can be made well in advance (the Roasted Vegetable Pate is awesome - your guests will never know it's healthy!); "Cold" recipes are slightly more sophisticated, but again can mostly be made well ahead of time (Vegetable Frittata with Hummus and Black Olives is amazing - a friend of mine noted that it was made mostly of ingredients that he doesn't like at all -eggplant, zucchini, roasted red peppers- and yet it was delicious) "Hot" recipes are obviously cooked just before serving, although I've managed to successfully reheating or just keeping some in a warming oven. "Sweet" is probably the weakest section, but has a nice baklava recipe. It's also the shortest section - with only 16 recipes of ~170 total. The recipes are completely from scratch, which for hors d'oeuvres is a bit of a pain, but with a bit of imagination shortcuts are easily made (i.e. use ready-made pie dough, add herbs to good quality ready-made mayo instead of from scratch, buy canned chickpeas instead of soaking and cooking dried ones, etc...) NOTE: I have the UK/Australian version, which requires occasional translation for North Americans: Capsicum = sweet peppers; Prawn = shrimp; and tablespoon measurements are = 4 teaspoons (20 ml), instead of the NA 3 teaspoons (15 ml).
