Sit down and enjoy

Just sit and enjoy the book. It would be better if you'll sit on the beach or the pool. The story is cute enough to keep you interested and fast enough to finish it in one or two afternoons. The book will take you from one misleading to another but that doesn't happen in real life?

bachelor auction gone wrong leads to fantastic results!

"It's for a good cause . . . " maybe if paramedic Jake Wallace reminds himself of that fact enough time then he'll begin to feel less panicky about his current predicament. He's bachelor Number Nineteen at a charity auction and he's offering dinner and a ball game - certainly nothing that should have brought in an astronomical amount - so when he's `sold' for twenty-five thousand dollars and the buyer doesn't seem at all interested in him, he has to wonder what's going on? Madeleine Turner only attended the auction and bought Jake to prevent her stepmother from winning him and cheating on her father. It seems simple enough - she bids on the man her sister specified as the gigolo, writes the check to cover his `services' for the evening and then go back to her cold, workaholic life. She's perfected the ice-queen persona and normally men take the hint and leave her alone - not this one. She's used to high society men interested only in her money. Jake is far more interested in chipping away at the ice encasing her heart. Maddy never imagined her life could become so complicated so fast - and all because she let her sister talk her into buying the very bachelor her stepmother wanted. According to his bio he's supposed to be an international businessman - code words for European Gigolo apparently. However, the man she's purchased acts more like your typical All-American boy next door leaving her confused and not a small bit scared. She can't help but admit to herself that she's sexually attracted to him but acting on her impulses could lead to heartache. Jake's been attracted to Maddy since the moment he peeped through the onstage curtains and spotted her standing aloof from the barracudas working themselves into a feeding frenzy over the available bachelors. Just when it seems fate has played into his hands she completely rejects him. Well, being a man raised not to welch on his deals he's determined to give her the date she'd paid for - and if he can entice her into something more intimate then he won't be complaining. He certainly has no clue that she thinks he's some high class male prostitute? Leslie Kelly did an excellent job penning this story so that the characters take on real qualities that endear them to you. I couldn't help but chuckle at Jake and Maddy's discussions and how her comments allude to his `occupation' but for the most part could be misconstrued to apply to his job as a paramedic. There's no doubt that they're perfect for each other and the sexual tension is definitely hot but what truly stands out in this storyline is the family dynamics and just how strongly they feel about family values. If after reading this book you want to know about what happened to the gigolo bachelor then I suggest picking up a copy of the second book in this bachelor auction gone wrong series - HEATED RUSH. From what I read on the back cover today when I picked it up at the store it promises to be just as touching as SLOW HAND

Slow Hands

Madeline Turner is the bank manager for her family's Chicago based bank. Maddy's sister Tabby tells her that their stepmother Deborah is going to bid on a male escort at the Give-a-Kid-a-Christmas charity auction. She then convinces Maddy to go and bid on him to thwart Deborah's attempt to cheat on their father. Jake Wallace is a paramedic for the Chicago Fire Department. He doesn't want to participate in the bachelor auction but his boss insists and it is for a good cause, so he does. Peeking out of the curtain while waiting for his turn to go on stage Jake sees Maddy and wants her, so when Maddy is the highest bidder for him he really puts on the charm. Maddy really likes Jake, he's not what she expected him to be as she thinks he is a gigolo, so she's keeping her distance. Jake really likes Maddy but she won't let him get close. Jake will have to make Maddy see him for who he really is or he'll lose the woman he's fallen hard for. Leslie Kelly does sweet and sexy so well. Maddy is a sweetheart and Jake is charming and gorgeous. With some funny moments, a little bit of angst, and sizzling sex, Slow Hands is fun, hot, and really romantic. Fun Read!

Due to a mix-up with the graphic designer, the bios of two bachelors in an upcoming charity auction were reversed. Maddy Turner, who has a reputation as an Ice Princess, was roped into bidding on Bachelor #19 in order to prevent her married step-mother from winning a date with him. Maddy was close to her father and didn't want him to be hurt by his wife's cheating. Maddy's sister had warned her #19, Jake Wallace, was some sort of gigolo, so when Maddy won the auction she had no intention of actually going on a date with him - she was just going to pay the charity for winning him and walk away. Jake, an EMT, has no idea his auction bio was incorrect and once he meets Maddy, he wants to follow through with the date for a baseball game. Jake talks Maddy into going on the date and she has a great time. She fights her attraction for Jake - she can't believe he's a gigolo but is reminded when he mentions having to work a 48 hour shift. Jake can't figure why Maddy keeps running hot & cold. I enjoyed this book. While I usually don't like books that begin with a misunderstanding that seems so easy to fix with one question or statement, it seemed plausible how this kind of thing could happen. Also, the author didn't stretch the misunderstanding out until the very end. The characters were interesting and their situations were realistic. I've always enjoyed this author's books and will continue to buy them. BTW, a sequel ("Heated Rush") will follow next month. I guess Bachelor #20 might not really be a gigolo after all...
