I was given this book by someone associated with the publisher. I was overwhelmed as the book is so gorgeous. It is very homey, yet sophisticated in its own way. The photos and text are are beautiful. Martha is pretentious; this is not.
One of my favorite books

I bought this book several years ago from a bargain bin at Borders, but over the years it has become one of my favorites. Both Jane (the author) and Pia (the photographer) did an excellent job putting together this seasonal guide to homemade goods. The writing is clear and informative, and the recipies are wholesome yet exotic. I've learned about everthing from truffles to treacle from reading this book. And the photographs are truly gorgeous. Even though my copy is over five years old, the colors are still brilliant. I will keep this book for the rest of my life and recommend it highly to anyone who is interested in this sort of thing. It's a step beyond Martha Stewart, and I'm sure you'll want to take it.
