One of the best book of missionary tales I've read.

Mr. Hill has done a remarkable job of plucking vignettes from a "typical" missionary life in the middle of Africa and turning them into poignant reflections on life, religion, and the problems of dealing with other cultures. Mr. Hill's 2 campanion books, "Slivers of the Cross" and "Soul Graft" are the best examples of this genre that I have ever read. They are honest, humorous, entertaining and thought-provoking - quite a hard combination to beat. They are certainly not the "true-life, inspirational" biographies that one usually expects from such authors, and they should be well accepted far beyond the traditional "inspirational" market.
