I liked this book; however, I didn't quite care for it as much as I did "Slime" or "Squelch". On its own it's pretty dang good, but reading it after "Slime" while waiting for "Squelch" and comparing them, for me, its my least favorite of the 3. If the idea of legless lizards/"worms" peaks your interest then you already know deep down you'll like it, like I did, but I do suggest reading this one before the author's other 2. I kinda kept thinking of the movie "Deadly Spawn" while reading this and so fans of that will most likely become fans of this.
Brilliantly terrifying!

I first read this book on the plane to England in 1986, and I was hooked from the first page. Set in England the book centralizes on Matt Parker, who's first horrible encounter with the creatures deemed "worms" (but which are described as a beautiful limbless lizard-type animal) leaves him disfigured and knowing these are no mere menace, "No more dangerous than Ferrets." as experts deem them to be. Instead he realizes these creatures seem to possess a keen intelligence, frightening cunning and their eyes become hipnotic if one dares to stare into them! They are creatures which actually prefer to eat their victims while still alive rather than kill them, and who seem to be after the very human race! The story takes you from the sewers of London to the country and seaside and keeps its reader riveted, and wondering what might happen if such creatures did exist!?I highly recommend this book to any person who loves a good read (I still have my old 1986 copy and read it every so often never getting bored, and always riveted once again to the story!) Be warned it does get quite intense, graphic, and somewhat gruesome at times, but it has some unexpected twists which I think many readers will enjoy.
