English teachers take notice

Kelly Dougherty has written a novel that English teachers can use. The book will appeal to the young minds of the English literature classes of today and be a natural complement for studying Steinbeck. I was involved from the first page. I found myself waiting for the next town, the next person, the next adventure. Humor and wisdom are there, but not "in your face," just nice and normal. With straight prose, natural and colorful, she shares her travels with ease. I enjoyed the conversational quality of her writing. People and events were real and her observations on life both insightful and meaningful. As the women in Carmel, I too want to be a part of her adventuring.

Youll enjoy the ride

This book was recommended to me by a friend and I am so glad I read it. Descriptively written about life on the American road that puts you in the passenger seat. This book does a great job of showing we are all on a journey toward human connection. Sleeping with Steinbeck is at times laugh out loud funny, at times insightful, but all the times honest. This first time author is surprisingly open about her feelings, vulnerabilities, fears and desires. I couldnt put it down, wonderful book from a refreshing new author.

a wonderful debut from a writer with a great voice. the story traces the outward journey through which the reader ascertains much of kelli's inward journey. it will make you laugh out loud. after reading it twice i am eager for the sequel!

A Must Read for our Generation

I absolutely loved this book! It is a must read for women of our generation...and for younger women who are just starting out on the adventures of life. Kelly was able to capture the fear, excitement, adventure and joy of traversing cross country solo....as a woman and as a writer...while also capturing her inward journey as the trip unfolds.

An instant classic...

Well written and entertaining, I felt as though I could see the journey unfold through the eyes of the author. A great book for a lazy Sunday morning.
