Book Overview

Skinny Bitch created a movement when it exposed the horrors of the food industry, while inspiring people across the world to stop eating "crap." Now the "Bitches" are back -- this time with a book geared to pregnant women. And just because their audience is in a "delicate condition" doesn't mean they'll deliver a gentle message. Lovin the bitch.....

This is an amazing book!!! Bought the original Skinny bitch and when I got pregnant, I was a little scared that I didnt really have the support for being a knocked up vegan..... So When I discovered this amazing book, I was ecstatic.. it definately helped me continue my veganism throught out my pregnancy!!!!

Great Vegan Pregnancy Book

Great book, well researched and funny, just like the first two. As for the bad reviews, I am kind of disturbed that anyone who didn't know something about the first two books and was not looking for the sort of information that this book provides would buy a pregnancy book called Skinny Bitch.

Let me get this straight......

The authors write a book to help you have a healthy baby and the only thing people focus on is the language and "ooh, they want me to go vegan." What did you want them to write?? A book that says, "Eat unhealthy junk and make you and your baby sick." Would that make you feel better? If I were a woman, and was having a baby, I'd be saying, "Thanks for giving me advice on how to have a healthy baby and safe pregnancy." Would you give it 5 stars if they called it "Skinny Bitch: How to Stick Your Head in the Sand and Avoid Reality During Your Pregnancy" Being healthy is not a punishment for you or your child.

Gets a bad rap from short-sighted reviewers

I don't know what the other reviewers are complaining about: this book was not dedicated to animal welfare and was not a PETA advertisement. Yes, there was talk about slaughterhouses, but this was only one part. And the point of slaughterhouse parts is that you are consuming the fear and grief of the animal through the form of chemicals they release. Not to mention the animals living conditions are disgusting and have the potential to contaminate your food--which you are feeding to your unborn baby. The book focuses more on the quality of the food products you put in your body. The authors advocate a vegan diet not only because of the condition of farms animals but because it's good for your body. It focuses mainly on the dangers of dairy and disproving most pro-dairy advertisements, pointing to the huge economic impact of the dairy industry as the main reason why the government pushes dairy on the public. The authors also disapprove of caffeine, alcohol, and artificial and refined sugars, particularly during pregnancy and discuss these substances' affects on an unborn baby. I also found the chapter on breastfeeding particularly interesting and helpful. I had decided not to breastfeed but after reading this chapter, reviewing their research, and talking to my doctor, I have changed my mind and decided to breastfeed/use a breast pump. Overall this was an informative and interesting book. It gives a lifestyle during pregnancy that is very cautious, and thus I believe this is what really upset the over reviewers--that they didn't want to have to change their lifestyle. But what better time to be so careful with your body than when you're pregnant with your baby!

Essential Reading for Women!!

These girls get mad props for exposing the truth behind the food we eat. Most people don't realize that the dairy & meat industry spend millions and millions on advertising and lobbyists to convince people that unhealthy food is actually healthy. These girls report the truth, backed by peer reviewed published medical studies (the real science & information that doesn't have millions to compete with meat & dairy industries). If you or anyone you know is pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant - this book is essential! If you care about your baby you can't ignore these facts. Bonus is that these authors are damn funny!
