Wow!!!!

She did it again! Jacqueline Fiedler has created another fantastic story. I would advise not reading this at bedtime, otherwise you'll be up until the wee morning hours because you HAVE to find out what happens next. It's a real page-turner with a totally unpredictable ending. DQ fans will notice a very strong resemblence between the hero in this book and our hero of the small screen (another reason you'll enjoy the book!). There's something in this book to attract almost every reader...mystery, adventure, romance, humor, wildlife conservation, etc.Well done Jazz! I look forward to your next one.

Major page turner!!

I can not say enough about this book. I read the book in less then a day. I could not put it down. I truley hope Jacqueline Fiedler will continue with this series. The character of Caroline is very believable, especially for a clutz like myself. If you like to be very suprised by an ending, that you thought you had figured out than this is the book for you.

Fun and educational read

This book addressed several things that interest me: Prairie restoration and the behavior of wolves while providing a fun and fast-paced "who done it" read. I really enjoyed this one. The humour at times remined me of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum.

A Howling Good Tale!

A Valentine's Day week end with members of the Wolf Prairie discussion group falls apart very quickly for wildlife artist Caroline Canfield. Early on in the week end Carolins discovers the body of A Wolf Praire Staffer, but no one believes her, as the body disappears. Things go from bad to worse as the week end progresses. There is an interesting mix of eccentric characters all of whom may have hidden motives for murder. Add to the mix one very handsome mysterious wildlife photographer who seems to have a disasterous effect on the women of the group, and the stage is set for a howling good mystery tale. This was a real page turner, and I was unable to figure out who done it or why until all the pieces fell in to place at the end. I enjoyed the characters, and the plot.Caroline is a spunky heroine who lets nothing stand in her way when solving the murders. All in all it was a very good read, and I highly recommend it to those who enjoy a good mystery with romance on the side. I think Ms. Fielder is one of the best new mystery writers to pick up a pen. Her first book Tiger's Palette introduced Caroline Canfield, but Sketches With Wolves stands on its own. I hope there are many more Canfield mysteries to come

A great mystery

After the events of some months ago when she was painting a mural at the zoo, artist Caroline Canfield withdrew from close human contact. She joined an Internet list server centering on wolves. Through many postings, Caroline feels as if she is ready to meet her new friends. The group planned to meet on the Valentine's Day weekend at Wolf Prairie, the wolf behavioral research and end education center. Hank, the owner of the center, is trying to restore the prairie in his little corner of the world. From the time she arrives at Wolf Prairie nothing seems to go right for Caroline. The other group members regard her as a klutz and a lunatic because she insists she found the murdered body of one of them in a deserted cave. After drinking liquids that were meant for Hank, Caroline has hallucinatory episodes but everyone thinks she is paranoid. Caroline thinks something very ugly is going on at Wolf Prairie and she intends to discover what it is, partly to see the truth come out and partly to prove that she is as sane as anyone in the group. Anthony and Agatha nominee Jacqueline Fielder has created another Caroline Canfield mystery that is exciting, realistic and completely absorbing. SKETCHES WITH WOLVES will appeal to Agatha Christie fans even though it contains better characterizations. This is a must read for anyone who likes a realistic puzzler.Harriet Klausner
