Enjoyed this book....

I've read Mackenzie McKade books before and found this one just as enjoyable. The heroine, Charlene, finds herself buried alive after agreeing to meet an informant in a cemetary. Our male lead, Devin is a vampire who rescues her and discovers she is his lifemate, the lightness that will balance out his darkness. Charlene isn't like any woman he's dealt with and keeps him hopping to keep her out of trouble while she's investigating a rogue vampire. The story also includes Devin's hunky brothers who I'm assuming will eventually get their own stories(yippee). The story was fast paced and fun, the heroine was headstrong to the point of wanting to knock some sense into her at times but still a good read.

erotic, funny A must read!

A spunky female lead, a Alpha hunky male and lets not forget each have two brothers. Thats alot of men. Charlene is a private detective who takes on a murder case to solve. She gets rescued by none other than her mate Devin. Charlene has two pesky, hunky older brothers. Devin spends the entire book trying to convert Charlene over to vampire. You will have to read it to find out if she does. The murder plot made this book a page turner. The sex scenes were steamy but the best being the foursome with Devin and his brothers. The scenes were explicit, graphic and had variety (:) After I finished this book in three hours, I immediatly went online to see if this author has started writing a sequel with the other brothers in it. I love this family and would like to see more. I will definitly buy whatever this author continues to pen.

She KNEW it was a bad idea. Correction: a VERY bad idea. Meeting an unknown informant in an isolated graveyard at midnight wasn't the brightest thing Charlene `Charlee' Madison had ever done, and now it looked as though it might be the last thing she ever did. Devin has waited centuries to find his soul mate, his light, but he never expected to find her six feet under, buried alive and near death itself. Her scent is unmistakable, though, and when he encounters her indomitable spirit, he knows he has more than met his match. But an ancient evil has also set its sights on Charlee, and even a powerful vampire such as Devin has his hands full keeping her safe, especially when the obstinate private detective seems to rush headfirst into trouble every chance she gets... Six Feet Under was the first story I ever read by Mackenzie McKade, and it was just as pleasurable reading it a second time as it was the first. In fact, the second read allowed me to catch several details that I missed during the first read of this multi-layered story. No one could argue that McKade definitely has a knack for writing a sexy vampire - or in this case, a whole bunch of sexy vampires! Yes, you can take that as a very strong hint that Six Feet Under includes a very hot ménage scene guaranteed to please those of us who enjoy a little ménage fantasy in our literature! As usual for this author, the writing is flawless, the plot is rich, and the characters multi-dimensional. The dialogue flows naturally, keeping the characters believable and McKade captures the readers' imagination with her descriptive prose and an intricate plot that delivers an intriguing twist. This is a must read for all fans of Mackenzie McKade's work, and also for fans of erotic vampire stories!

If you like Feehan & LKH, you'll like this book

Very much like Feehan's Carpathian vampires, Devin & his brothers must find their other half ('lifemates') to avoid becoming the evil vampire of legend and myth. Devin's brother Damian is close to turning, so Devin is afraid to mention that he has found his lifemate in Charlee, the P.I. he finds buried alive. Charlee was investigating a nasty murder when the 'informant' she was to meet at St. Louis Cemetery knocks her around and buries her alive. She fights, she freaks, she hears Devin, who rescues her and takes her to his home. Charlee is resistant to the idea of becoming a vampire (in fact, she doesn't really believe in creatures of the night), but she does believe in psychic abilites, esp. since she can't deny that Devin can talk to her in her head. Interestingly enough, he can also manipulate her thoughts, as he does when he links with both his brothers and Charlee while she is having dinner with a murder suspect. The three brothers have a spicy menage experience with Charlee in a sort of waking dream sequence that seemed to come out of Laurell K Hamilton's Anitaverse. Charlee is a bit of a blonde, and she keeps doing stupid things that get her into scrapes that she needs rescuing from by Devin and company, but overall it's a decent read.

Mackenzie McKade has hit pay dirt with Six Feet Under!

Private investigator Charlene Madison has hit a dead end in her investigation of a young woman's brutal murder. Charlee receives a phone call and agrees to meet an unknown source at a cemetery. Charlee arrives at the agreed upon destination but is hit from behind and wakes up in a dark space. Unable to find an opening, Charlee is horrified to realize that she has been buried underground in a coffin. Trying to remain calm, Charlee kicks and scratches but to no avail. During her struggle to get out, Charlee hears a seductive, male voice in her head promising freedom and instantly Charlee calms. She doesn't know why, she doesn't know how, she just knows that the male voice she is hearing just might be her salvation. Having searched for years for a life mate, vampire Devin Leduc has almost given in to his depression and almost given up his search. While out flying, he smells an elusive scent in the air and finds himself in a cemetery. The scent he smells is his mate and she is buried six feet under the ground! With a wave of his hand, the earth cracks and the coffin explodes leaving behind a beautiful, blonde enchantress. His mate is still alive so Devin picks her up, shifts, and carries her away to his home and safety. Waking up in a strange house and feeling a bit woozy, Charlee doesn't understand the voice in her head. She does, however, understand the extremely erotic and attractive man in the room with her. They come together in an explosive burst of passion and Devin is ecstatic at their attraction to each other. Devin doesn't count on Charlee's stubbornness to remain in his home and can only sense her leaving. Charlee can't believe she put her life in a stranger's hands. Not to mention, sleeping with the guy! What was she thinking? Her sensual thoughts are put on hold as the prime suspect in her investigation invites her to dinner. That is when the real fireworks start! Unbeknownst to Charlee, she is in danger and it is up to Devin to keep her safe, no matter how hard she fights him. Fight him she does, especially when she finds out his secret and their connection. Six Feet Under by Mackenzie McKade is a winner in my book. Unlike anything I have read from Ms. McKade, Six Feet Under combines vampire lore and paranormal shape shifting and comes up with a great story. The added comedic effect and suspense was priceless and I could not put this book down! Ms. McKade has created two stubborn, willful, but loving main characters in Devin and Charlee. Their loyalty, steadfastness, and caring of family and friends made my heart sing. Their love, although it took a while for Charlee to admit, was worth my wait. I just fell in love with the both of them. Mackenzie McKade has hit pay dirt with Six Feet Under! Totally satisfied, I can't wait for her next release! Talia Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed
