Easy to read

I just finished this yesterday and I really enjoyed it. It's not the best I've ever read, but it was good. This book has short chapters, alternating the voices of two sisters, Natalie and Shannon. It's interesting to hear each of their perceptions regarding their childhood and the outlooks of two very different women. There were some surprising turns; some happy and some sad. I loved how open they were about their thought process and personalities. Definitely worth reading.

Excellent book

I really enjoyed reading this book. In fact, I could hardly put it down! Natalie and Shannon do an excellent job drawing you into their stroy and making their life come alive for you. I found mayself thinking and dreaming about their story as a fell asleep the last few nights. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good novel. Keep up the good work women!

Refreshing and Honest

The small town Sisters seem to give themselves a self-fullfilling prophecy with Barbie doll play at a young age. This very delightful tale is one of best book I have read. It's well written and has a certain charm. I hope to read more from these authors in the future. Nice work!

wonderfully familiar family story

I found this memoir to be sweet and familiar, and enjoyed the resonating themes within my family and the Krings'. The description was meticulous and vivid, and the telling between two sisters balanced and varied in voice.

OK, even though I know Shannon, the author, I am not writing this review out of some sort of loyalty to her. I have only known her as an adult, and reading the story of her young years has brought me to near pants-wetting laughter at numerous times. Natalie's voice is strongly developed as well, and both sisters have a way of playing off of one another that allows the reader to visualize what it must have been like to grow up in a house with either one of them, or at least in a neighboring Barbie dreamhouse. Several times I found myself relating to one or the other, depending on the circumstances, and reading this memoir has brought up many memories of my own; it's sure to do the same for anyone who reads it, but particularly teens and adult women. Read on! And to Shannon and "Nadly": Write on!
