"Siren's Call" is one serial killer story that the reader won't soon forget! Why do you ask? The answer is two fold really. One the killer is female and her method is to kill at the moment her "guest" reaches climax. Second she uses the victims to make her unusual furniture. The bed she kills on is made totally of human bone and one can't forget the stool that is "Marty." Sirena is a stripper and has had a rather hard life. Still she has friends such as Chrissie the girlfriend of the strip club owner, and Ross the bartender. Still her life is not a happy one and her killing is about to catch up with her. Her last victim causes police and a P.I. to look into his disappearance. The cop wants her and the P.I. is sure she killed the victim. , The end though is nothing like you think it will be. What will happen to everyone that has anything to do with "Silky's Femme" the strip club? This is truly an edge of your seat read. Ms. Mitchell manages to tie all loose ends together in a way that the reader will not feel cheated. Sirena is truly an evil character but she vividly comes to life on the pages. The reader will alternate between horror and interest on what makes this character tick! I highly recommend Ms. Mitchell read. It will offer readers something new and fresh in a genre that at times seems saturated with mediocre attempts at suspense.
sirens call : extremely alluring

I was fortunate to have read an advanced copy of this book and was extremely impressed by MS. Mitchells imagination into the dark and seedy life of a stripper. I must say I started becoming a fan most recently after reading her vampire novels. I think one of the most enjoyable parts of the book was finding out how she so cleverly weaves loose ends and creates a tapestry of plausable and at times frightening details of the events. I originally compared her to Anne Rice but now must change my oppinion after reading "The Sirens Call" and now consider her talent more like John Grisham. I would have rated this book a five but chose selfishly not to for one reason and one reason only. It ended! I urge my fellow readers, this is a book you will find hard to put down as I read it in only 1 day. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Mitchells books in the future.
strong serial killer thriller

Sirena ran away from home as a young teen to escape the vicious beatings inflicted on her by her father. She moved in with Joe who had her make kiddie porn movies until she told him she wasn't going to do it anymore. Now she works as a stripper at Silky Femmes in a small out of the way Florida town. She has friends she cares about like the bartender Ross who keeps an eye out for her and the girlfriend of the owner Chrissie. Sirena also has a very interesting hobby. She picks up men at the club and brings them to her isolated cabin. She has sex with them and at their moment of climax she kills them. She takes their bones and makes furniture out of them but the police and a private detective are beginning to think she's a killer. Both the private detective and the police know she was the last person to see a john she picked up alive; the private detective thinks she might be a killer while the police officer wants to jump her bones. Sirena thinks that Chrissie will make a good partner in her hobby but letting her in on her secret leads to a whole new set of problems for this killing machine. SIRENA'S CALL is horror of the human kind. There are no supernatural beings in this serial killer thriller but Serena is the personification of pure evil. She repels readers just as Stephen King's monsters do because they can't believe she is capable of such atrocities. The denizens of Silky Femmes are all criminals to one degree or another which is one of the reasons this book is so chilling and mesmerizing. Harriet Klausner
