Emotional read....

Nurse Rikki Johansen and Dr. Dane Hendricks are from two entirely different worlds. He's the epitome of wealth while Rikki is driving a car that doesn't always start right away. They get off on the wrong foot instantly due to a misunderstanding but then the attraction begins to sizzle despite their very different backgrounds. Will either be willing to open up their hearts to see the person underneath the labels? And will Dane's private family issues derail any hope they have at all? Lynne Marshall tackles some tough issues in SINGLE DAD, NURSE BRIDE. Rikki is both a foster parent and a survivor of the foster care system herself. Only too well did Lynne Marshall describe the emotional rollercoaster that both foster parents and foster children are put through. As a former foster care case manager, I found it difficult to read this book as Rikki's pain was all too real to me. This is not a criticism of the author but rather highlights just how well she described the emotions experienced by those working or living in the foster care system. Rikki is an interesting character. Her need to give back, over and over to others, is almost compulsive. I have to admit that it almost annoyed me until her past starts to be revealed. Rikki provides an excellent lesson in how the surface doesn't always show the pain that is inside a person. Dane has his own inner turmoil and there is one scene in particular when Lynne Marshall does an excellent job at showing how different people respond to inner grief. SINGLE DAD, NURSE BRIDE is a touching story of two people finding one another in the midst of their own pain. Their friendship is at the core of their relationship as each learns to cope. Fascinating, albeit emotional at times, SINGLE DAD, NURSE BRIDE is a hit! COURTESY OF CK2S KWIPS AND KRITIQUES

Another wonderful romance from Lynne Marshall

Lynne Marshall has written yet another wonderful medical romance. Using her ability to combine authentic medical details and heartwarming romance, she's created memorable characters in orthopedic nurse Rikki and the slightly overbearing (but ultimately endearing) doctor Dane. Rikki is a unique character--with her funky clothing and her kicky hairdo, she marches to her own drumbeat--and yet she is vulnerable and giving at the same time. Dane starts out a little clueless, but as the self-doubting single father of twin girls, he makes us fall in love with him very quickly. When Dane's brother is diagnosed with cancer and Rikki turns out to be the only bone marrow match, there is never any doubt what her choice will be. The question is, how will this situation affect the budding relationship of these opposites that attract? Where does gratitude end and love begin? Ms. Marshall has a knack for writing a heartwarming tale that makes one want to read her books all in one sitting. You'll love these characters and the way they reach out to one another despite the heartache and despair they must endure. I highly recommend this book.

A rejuvenating romance!

Orthopedic doctor Dr. Dane Hendricks is every nurse's dream --- handsome and a take charge kind of guy when it comes to medicine but also warm and humorous. Rikki Johansen is a conscientious nurse, taking to heart all the lessons she learned in nursing school, and a woman dedicated to serving others. When a patient's medication is accidentally given to another patient, Dr. Dane Hendricks blames Rikki, no questions asked. When it comes to asking Rikki out for a date, Dane is just as confident of himself. Why is Dane so drawn to this scrawny woman with her unusual fashion sense? Dane is a single dad with two adorable twin girls and Rikki is a foster mother. Complications and misunderstandings arise to separate Dane and Rikki but when true love comes into play, can these two survive what life has to throw at them? SINGLE DAD, NURSE BRIDE is romance that begins with explosive tension that develops into an emotionally moving romance filled with passionate and tender moments between the hero and heroine. Rikki is the kind of woman who always puts others before herself. Her character will resonate deeply during hectic times at this moment. Ever read a book that is just sooo right for the moment? This was one of those books for me. Rikki's story will resonate with anyone involved in charity work or those who care for others. It's not just Rikki's character but I just sank into this book and felt rejuvenated after that kind of read. Why so rejuvenating? This romance has a fun sense of humor and lightness --- and even a bit of zaniness to Rikki's character --- and yet I discovered some heart-moving moments combined with some realistic and even sad moments. Readers may find themselves reserving a special place for SINGLE DAD, NURSE BRIDE on their keeper shelf to reread, especially when life's demands require a satisfying, renewing romance read.
