A wonderful book

My brothers and I loved this book so much when we were children that we wore it out and the pages fell apart, I just bought the book for my own children.

The tidal wave that divided

I first read this book when I was ten and I've read it almost a dozen times since. It is the incredible, AND TRUE, story of the forces of good and evil acted out on an island in the South Pacific in the 1800's. When missionaries arrive, the son of the village chief becomes close friends with their son. The battle for everyone's allegience develops as Tama, the witch doctor tries every possible trick to destroy the work of the missionaries. In the final scenes, a volcano offshore collapses, sending a huge tidal wave toward the island and the missionaries' house on the beach. Those who have accepted the God of the missionaries are about to be annihilated as they stand outside the house, while those who rejected the God of the missionaries are part way up the mountain trail. What happens next makes the book worth purchasing.
