This is a reprint of a guide written for women sewing on straight-stitch treadle sewing machines, instructing them in the production of work that looks like fine hand embroidery and lace. You will be amazed at what skilled and determined women created with such a simple tool! It is an excellent historical needlework reference for libraries and for experienced and/or tenacious modern sewers. For most lessons, only the finished item is illustrated, not intermediate steps. Be advised the instructions are not step-by-step tutorials, but assume the reader is already a skilled needleworker.
