I have read many, many books on Christian life and the relationship that exists between God and His children. None have explained as well as this book. If you are a theologian, this book may seem simplified. That is its intent. Sometimes lost in the rhetoric of books on theology and philosophic musings of life and its meaning, is the fact that salvation, faith, hope, love and a relationship with our Lord are all there for the taking. James Cantelon delivers that message for all who desire to know the simple truth.
A reprint of "Theology For Non-Theologians"
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 26 years ago
Those who are trying to find a copy of Cantleon's earlier (and hard to locate) "Theology For Non- Theologians" can rest easy: this is it, newly reprinted and dolled up with lots of (unnecessary) information boxes which highlight key sentences. That quibble aside, this is an excellent book for the inquiring layman. In common-sense prose, studded with clear examples, this clergyman leads the lay reader into the realm of "advanced" religious thought and unravels the academic jargon and subtle theological concepts which traditionally have frustrated him. Typical is the first chapter, where Cantelon presents in clear language the four traditional proofs of the existence of God. This is an excellent book for the thinking person (Christian or non-Christian) who is ready for something more substantial than religious pop or the sentimental "inspirational" books which are found everywhere.
