Unforgettable

I had picked up a beaten-up paperback of Shapiro's novel at a used book exchange some twenty years ago, and it has stuck in my mind ever since. Harboring some of the most disturbing passages I had ever encountered, this novel got me thinking more than any textbook could about the nature of man, God, the Devil and the universe, and left me unsure as to the reality of any of it. A group of physicians speculate as to what comes after death and decide to dabble with Godhood by killing one of their own--only to trap the son of the Devil within their compatriot's corpse; the resulting devastation is more nightmarish than any modern-day horror movie. Highly recommended--READ IT READ IT READIT!!--it is far scarier than anything produced by King or Koontz at the top of their respective games; indeed they could learn a thing or two from it's pages. I read it again just yesterday, and still had to sleep with the lights on. Five out of five stars, and deserving more.

Increadibly Awesome

This is was an awesome book. It crossed so many questionable bounderies about religios beliefs and medical theories. The text was written so poetically that every word seemed to me as if it could easily be put to music of the goth persuasion. I also learned quite a bit from this book about the balance of life, good and evil, and the effect of messing with things that you don't understand.I recomend this book to anyone with a curiosity for the supernatural. I loaned this book to a friend who has since passed it on to several of their friends. Good thing this book now only cost a dollar because I don't mined not getting it back.

A dark journey , the one and only book I could not put down.

Simons Soul is likely the most scary and most loaned book I have ever read. I was living in England the first time I had the pleasure of reading it (it was lent to me by a very nasty young lady that I was in a short relationship with). I was completely absorbed, by the time I was done my catholosism lay cringing on the floor!!! I am now the proud owner of a signed copy & a reading copy... I loaned the reading copy 6 months ago & have yet to get it back! If you like a good scare, if you like to own unusually good books, this is one for you. I wish you luck in your search for a copy of Simons Soul, and advise you no matter how much you are tempted, do not lend it unless you are ready to lose it!!. If anyone has heard of the whereabouts of Mr.Shapiro or have information on any other books by him. I would appreciate it if you would contact me.

Scared the holy hell out of me, I had everyone read it!!!!!

I read this book in one afternoon and into the evening. At times I huddled in my chair shaking, at other times I actually cried. I have Never read a book that scared me as much as this one. I have had four copies and lent them out and got the same reviews that I gave to you. I suggest you read it during the daylight hours, and then watch a comedy before bed. Don't be alone and please lock your doors!

Terrific!

I read this book in the late seventies, on the suggestion of my mother. This book takes you on a journey through Heaven, Hell, and everything in between. For those with an open mind, it really raises some great questions about religious beliefs. Short, fast-paced, and terrifying at times, this book will definitely leave it's mark on the reader.
