Good book for a gift

The author definitely owns a cat! Clean and funny cartoons.

You will laugh out loud

I bought the book after watching two videos on [...] of Simon's Cat ([...]). It was a very good decision. I sat down to read some of it the day the book arrived before leaving for an appointment. I could not just read some. I could not help but laugh out loud. If you are a cat owner you can relate. It is amazing how much is conveyed without a single word. The is not contrived. You can relate to the characters, Simon and his cat. I do not remember when I read a book that I could not help but laugh out loud.

Simply Brilliant!

I have been enchanted by Simon's Cat on YouTube for 2 years now. I wasn't sure how this would come across in book format but it is brilliant! It maintains the same tone with its wordless cartoons - and every picture defintely tells a story. I am owned by several cats and Simon definitely understands feline behavior and portrays it indescribably well. I have several cat lovers on my Christmas list who will be getting copies of this wonderful book. I look forward to more from this creative genius!

Brilliant and funny.... I wish the kitty was real...

Simon's Cat book is probably the most brilliant of the kitty books in market. Funny, creative and real. Sometimes I think this cat is real. Of course, his antics can hurt Simon when he is asleep or watching tv but he is so adorable you're able to forgive him. What has struck me most is that how Simon's graphics teach us to treat animals humanely and with special care. I am one of the fans and it is an excellent book. Loved it. Plus this book makes a great gift.

If you are a fan of Simon's wonderful YouTube channel, or a lover of cats and their antics, or if you like funny comic books. Everyone knows that there are gazillions of cats on line--cartoon videos, real life videos, and, of course, LOLcats. With all these cats, do we really need a cartoon book, esp. one who already has millions of internet fans? After reading and re-reading Simon's book, I say an emphatic YES! This format draws the reader into a different world than that of video, and it conveys a different layer of enjoyment--one in which the reader "participates" in the action because s/he must imagine and interpret what goes on "between the frames" in order to achieve "closure" which we need for understanding. (I've been reading a bunch of graphic novels lately, and I also read and recommend Scott McCloud's excellent book, "Understanding Comics") I'm a big fan of LOLcats, too, but the books derived from these, like many books based on websites don't really have anything new or interesting to say, and are often a disappointment. Simon's Cat, in his very own book, helps the reader to identify with both him as well as Simon in his life as a cat, and with Simon as the human whom he owns, FTW. (Unfortunately, real life calls me away, so check back later; I'll write more later. I hope that this paragraph adds to the discussion about the book, and why I like and recommend it. BFN.)

Just as Good

I was a little afraid Simon's Cat would be lacking because you can't hear his little mews, but it's just as funny if not more! Tofield does a great job with little "mini-strips," and stories that every cat owner can appreciate. There is a ton of variety, and it's ALL illustrated brilliantly! Absolutely hilarious! I love the antics of Simon's Cat. His expressions are absolutely priceless.
