Not that it wasn't the hottest night of her life. In fact, the memory of Taylor's kisses, his touch, his . . . everything makes Claire want to leap right back into the sexy detective's bed. 2nd book, After Damsel in this Dress

I liked this book almost as much as the first book (Damsel in this Dress - Betsy and Soldier's story). This book is about Taylor and Claire. You feel like you know the characters and you really like them. The dialog is witty, intelligent, snappy and makes you want to be as "quick on your feet" with the comebacks as they are. Funny, romantic, quick read. I'm still smiling. Highly recommend both books, although Damsel is the better read of the two. Is there a book in the works for Officer Winslow? Seems like a waste of a good-looking man....

The chapter puns are great!

Love this book. The chemistry between Claire and Taylor is very good and the puns at the top of each chapter are priceless. Well worth the read

Read this book you will not be disappointed!

If you enjoy light romantic suspense at its finest, read this book. "Sighs' was the first book I've read of Ms. Stillings and I was very impressed. She writes with wit and intelligence. Although the suspense portion of the plot is well executd and satisfying, the real story is Taylor and Claire's. These characters are charming and likable. They have depth and the dialog is extremely clever. Even the secodary characters are well defined. Aunt Sadie, the former actress and her parrot Hitchcock are delightful and add to the fun. And this book IS fun and heartwarming (as all good romances should be) packaged within a cleverly thought out mystery. I guarantee you will be smiling when you finish this story. I enjoyed it so much that I sought out Ms. Stillings first two books and read them within a week of finishing this one. I've already marked my calendar for the release of her next book, due next March, as a must read!

Waiting for the fog to clear!!

Okay, lets be honest, its the book cover that draws us first. We're buying it to have the cover blown up to hang above the bed, then you find there's a story. Granted, not the erotica you imagine with the cover tease, but there is a story, who knew? Having never read any of Ms. Stillings works, I must say this book was a treat. From the book cover (yowza), to the dry whit of the author in the entertaining dialoge of the characters, to the story line I was completely engrossed. While it may not have been a true gripping suspense, the romance is there and for me, it was hard to put down. If you seek true entertainment, you will not be disappointed by this read. It's got it all, alpha male, troubled heroine, romance, mystery. I will be looking into other books and looking forward to her future writings. ***Suggestion to Ms. Stillings, keep your cover artist for future works and let the weather be clear.***

wonderful police procedural romance

In Port Henry, Washington Dr. Claire Hunter is heading back to Seattle when someone forces her off the road. The next she knows a cop takes her in as she suffered a head injury and her purse with her license and other items were stolen; a bottle of open alcohol is inside her vehicle. The cop takes her to the station though she is not drunk. She mentions knowing Detective McKennitt so the cops send for him. However, the wrong McKennitt shows up as she expected Soldier wed to her best friend, but instead got his brother Taylor, whom she made love with eight months ago before Claire ran back home fearing her feelings especially for a cop. Taylor forces Claire to stay in his home over night to insure she is safe. He believes that her assault is tied to her beloved Aunt Sadie's fiancé Mortimer of Mortimer Mortuary, who he and his brother believe is involved in illegal activities. This time Taylor will not let her run away as he insures she is safe from everyone but his assault on her heart. Marianne Stillings returns to Port Henry for the third time (see MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL and Soldier's story THE DAMSEL IN THIS DRESS) with another wonderful police procedural romance. The delightful story line contains two people in love, but one of them refuses to acknowledge that veracity while also battling against a dangerous enemy. The return of characters from the previous tales add to the overall depth of this plot, but this tale stands alone. Readers will appreciate this fine romantic suspense. Harriet Klausner
