A prescription for entertainment.

As much as I'd like to give this five stars, I can't. It took way, way too long to finish this book. Not because it was difficult to read, or because is was long, or even because it wasn't well written. It just never called to me like most books, I could put it down and not pick it up for a couple days and do that over and over. Most books that are this funny and entertaining I can't read fast enough. However, this one, for some reason didn't have that attraction. It was unique to say the least and the author has some wild imagination. I don't think any adult can go wrong choosing to read this.

What a delicious book!I felt like I had been given a 20 pound box of Godiva chocolates...consume slowly, and appreciate. Mr. Jacobs has a unique sense of humor that is both dark and hopeful...please read....a conaisseur's delight!

The first review of Side Effects in the higly respected Kirkus Review called this novel "truly original--a great comic novel" comparing the author's work with Heller, Vonnegut, Elkin, etc. It is a free-swinging swipe at the RX industry, its centerpiece being Simon Apple on the last day of his life, ready to sacrifice himself for the good of the nation's economy. Publication date is late February and already this novel is creating traction not only in the USA but overseas!
