B-movie horror tale - with all the fun that implies

Wilson has always said that Sibs was a bit of a fluke - a book that simply flew out of him quickly and really wasn't much like anything else he'd done. In some ways, he's right; Sibs is definitely one of Wilson's more sexual stories in some ways, even though his idea of "shocking" behavior isn't quite the same as mine (maybe some of the datedness of the book?). That doesn't make the tale - which starts with the odd death of a twin sister and continues with multiple personality disorders, haunting dreams, hypnosis, and some truly bizarre twists - any less fun to read. The twists aren't quite as hard to guess as the book thinks, but as a pure thrill ride, Sibs is a lot of fun - it's a great little horror tale that feels like a great short story stretched to book length. There's definitely a little fat that could have been trimmed - most notably the Bannion character, who adds little to the plot of importance - but taken as Wilson's entry into the B-level horror genre, it's a lot of fun. I'm surprised it's never been picked up as a movie, as this would make a fun little genre picture.
A TWIST IN THE TALE...

When Kara Wald's twin sister, Kelly, dies an untimely death, Kara returns to New York City, a city she had left ten years prior in order to return to the Pennsylvania countryside. When she arrives to claim her sister's body, Kara meets up with her old boyfriend, Rob Harris, now a detective with the New York City Police Department. The police are inclined to view Kelly's death as a suicide, as she had leapt out of a twelfth story window in a hotel, clad only in a black garter belt and black stockings, after having sex with two strangers. Kara, however, is adamant that the circumstances under which Kelly died can be nothing short of murder. After all, the Kelly she knew was a caring nurse for whom such behavior would have been totally out of character. Kara's search for the truth takes her to Kelly's psychiatrist, a man who seems to hold the key to Kelly's bizarre behavior prior to her death. What Kara uncovers, however, is something so sinister and evil that it will ensnare her as it had her sister. The only question is whether she will be able to escape its clutches and come to term with her own secret past. This is an entertaining book that will keep the reader compulsively turning its pages. Although the more discerning reader may ascertain what is going on before Kara and Rob do, this will not diminish the enjoyment one will derive from this plot driven book. The tension and suspense is maintained throughout, as the plot is somewhat unusual with more than its fair share of twists and turns. Fans of the author and those who enjoy a suspenseful read will not be disappointed by this book.
Fabulous

This is a sit-up-and-take-note kind of book. I was halfway into the book, thinking to myself that it wasn't half bad. Then, 5 pages later, I was sweating bullets engrossed. He blind-sided me with the plot (in a good way).
A gripping book you can't put down!!

Mr. Wilson is one of my favorite authors, and I must say that SIBS is my favorite book written by Mr. Wilson. I read this book several years ago and it is just too hard to put down! This unusual plot has a lot of psychological intrigue. The more you read the story, the more you're trying to figure out what's going on. Although the book is now out of print, if you can find it at a secondhand book store, I highly recommend this book. I think Mr. Wilson was at his all-time best with this book.
It gripped me until the end

Wilson crafts a compelling page turning mystery but unfortunately cannot resist interjecting some supernatural horror to the ending. This book would have been much finer had he controlled himself.
