excellent for what it is

Expect to spend some money to get the recommended storage materials, but the outcome is definitely worth it. If you're buying this, regardless of the type of person you are, you are at least consciously committing to organizing your closet and taking better care of your things, so labels aside, the author has sage advice. Moreover, this organizational guide can help you regardless of your lifestyle and personal style, you just adapt what she is telling you. For example, I am a very busy, naturally-messy-but-trying-to-get-better, married twenty-something with way too many clothes and there's no end in sight. While I don't have time to spend so many hours building shelves and wall mounts and schlepping to IKEA to get various things, I did reserve a Saturday to go through all my clothes. I mean all of them. I threw them all on the bed and from there divided them into three piles: donate/consign, trash, keep. I then worked on one pile at a time. I took my trash pile and (because I'm an eco freak) looked to see if I could upcycle anything, everything else got pitched. I laundered and nicely folded the consignment/donation pieces and reserved the next morning for the local consignment shop. Everything they didn't want, I donated. This way, you get a little change in your pocket for all the work you're doing. After that I took the clothes I kept and laundered them all appropriately (she goes over this) and after each load itemized the clothing in an excel doc according to the storage location, and then color, brand, etc. Time-consuming yes, but god, its helpful. This whole thing took me two weekends, which is a pain in the tush, but honestly, it saves you so many headaches afterwards. Doing this also makes you keenly aware of what you need/have too much of/etc.

Greatest book for organizing your closet!

This book is fabulous for anyone that has been hoarding clothes and has lost track of what is in their closet or for anyone that has limited space. Melanie provides tips for organizing your closet in clear easy steps with pictures and diagrams and gives you the motivation and guide to stop procrastinating. I loved the tips for keeping clothes in their best condition and for travel. Her advice can easily be used in other areas of the home that need organizing also. Particularly her travel/packing tips are helpful, practical and realistic! I highly recommend it!

a fabulous book for a fabulous closet

This book gets right to the essence of what a beautifully organized closet is ...and how you can achieve it. Melanie's advice on how to bring order to your closet is as clearly laid out and as easy to use as the closets she designs. This book contains clear steps that anyone can implement to attain the same results that Melanie creates for her high profile clientele. As interior designers we appreciate the luxury and beauty that a great closet brings to one's life. Melanie takes that to another level of organizational bliss and comfort.

The Motivation You Need to Organize That Closet!

This book is just the ticket for those who need a little motivation and inspiration to get organized, de-clutter, and refresh their wardrobe. The book gives you the tools you need to clean out and organize your closet and wardrobe and to maintain it going forward. Like an organized wardrobe itself, the book is a very easy read with great illustrations, pictures, inset notes and anecdotes that keep you interested, turning pages, and inspired to view your closet and wardrobe in a practical manner. You'll learn how to take better care of your clothes and to abandon your pack rat tendencies for good! A very worthwhile investment.
