Isekai romance

Arrived in great condition and it’s been a while since I haven’t reread this manga. I love the characters so much and the storyline. A nice romance isekai.

Love it!

I love this book. It's a typical romance story with a time travel twist. I also love the art work. I can't wait for the other books to be release and I hope they make it an anime tv series....

Sweet & Refreshing!

Kagetora, a ninja from the past who is sworn to protect Princess Beni, suddenly enters the modern world and runs into Beni Fujiwara: a descendant of Princess Beni who looks exactly like her! Kagetora mistakenly thinks she is his "Beni Hime" and pledges his devotion to protect her. When he returns to the past and finds the real Beni Hime and realizes that they're not the same person (and yes, you knew that was coming) he plans to abandon Beni, but his Beni Hime says she doesn't want to be princess anymore, so he decides to come back to the future with Beni. Shinobi Life is not the typical "two high school students meet and fall in love" shojo plot which makes it very refreshing to read. Also, there is a lot more to this plot than meets the eye. It has serious moments, but it also has a very sweet side. And it also has some very beautiful artwork. Very well worth the read!

Time Travel Romance

I'm actually kind of sad that this manga doesn't have a better fallowing and more reviewers, perhaps its because there are no descriptions. So here goes, a decription: ~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~ Our heroes, Beni and Kagetora, is like a lot of manga characters, not what they seem to be. The manga starts off with the the past, Kagetora is being sent off on a task by a mysterious woman, as he is urging her to go for her safety an explosion goes off and he is falling.... Beni is in the present and on a roof top mouthing off to yet another kidnapper only to be crashed into by a strange man in ninja clothes and who nearly pushes them both to their death. He manages to pull off some moves and saves them both. Kagetora is sure the modern world is an illusion created by his enemies. He must protect his princess, who seems to have lost her memory. Beni thinks that Kagetora is just another bodyguard hired by the father she hates for killing her mother. This strange man, in strange clothes keeps calling her princess and she just doesn't understand why. There is a lot of comedic clashing between the two as they learn to adjust. Kagetora is shocked by his princess's revealing wardrobe and unladylike actions. Beni is appalled by Kagetora's brutish methods of protecting her. However, it's not long before the two of them start seeing the others better qualities and start falling in love. If only it wasn't for Kagetora's social hangups, Beni's sutors, and time travel getting in their way... ~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~.~~ All in all I like this manga quite a bit. I haven't come across or read a time travel manga except for Fushigi Yugi (also worth the read!). It has some of the more typical shojo aspects, many suitors after one girl, Beni's dependence on Kagetora to protect and save her, her inability to to cook... But in some aspects of the story feel fresh. Kagetora doesn't feel like the typical male love interest. He isn't a jerk, he isn't full of romantic gestures, he's not labled as a jock/4.0 student. He has insecurities that keep getting in the way of their relationship which seems realistic. Beni's death wish gets old but it thankfully tapers off quickly in the storyline. And just when the love~love starts to eat a way at the enamel of your teeth- the action picks up.

Good Story, Great Art

This is one of my favorite mangas series, I'm glad it is finally being licensed in the US! It's a really sweet shoujo story, with plenty of romantic tension, but it also has some awesome shinobi action and time travelling thrown in for a different twist. The art and character design is really excellent as well. I would highly recommend it.
