ISBN 0766611892 - If you take a step in any direction in my house, you're going to run into childrens' books - they're everywhere! Reviewing them before I get rid of them has been a ton of fun and dog stories are right up there, near the top of the list, so Sherman was one I looked forward to. Sherman belongs to aunt May, who brings him along when she comes to visit. Sherman gets into quite a bit of trouble because he wants attention. When Grandma stops by and offers Sherman a lot of attention, he behaves quite well - but when she leaves again... The text, by Susan Kochan, is rhyming and simple, making this an easy and fun read for the target audience of first graders. Dudley Moseley's illustrations are bright, colorful and fun, not excessively cluttered with details but not simple to the point of boring, either. I was surprised (and sad, from the "Buy American-made" angle) to see that this book is marked "Printed in India", but that's got nothing to do with the quality of the book, which children will find enjoyable.
