Disappointing

Another in a long line of fiction that attempts to paint Jesse James as a hero rather than the murderous psychopath he certainly was. Nominally a Sherlock Holmes pastiche, Holmes is nothing but a sketchy background figure. Tiresome tropes and anachronisms abound with gunplay and rope tricks that never existed outside of a Hollywood lot. Competently written, but this book could have been far more than it ended up being
