Celestial started the abalone trade 19th Century

Prof Braje writes this book, Shellfish for the Celestial Empire document the history how Celestials came to America to develop the fishing industry especially the abalone crop which Native Americans consumed for their diet thousands of years. He spends chapter 2 of Anchors, Admirals, and the Artifice: The Chinese before Columbus? He disputes the book 1421 which claimed with 600 footnotes on the Asian items in America on Zhang He Treasure boats to America seventy years before Columbus. This book upsets the boat of myth that Columbus “discovered” America! Todd also interested in Maya culture and why he did not explore why all in a sudden Maya style and statue changed in Buddha posture one hand pointing heaven while the other to earth with eye in palm? He did elaborate the discrimination and hardship Chinese immigrants faced in making a livelihood here in California coast with all legal points against them for robbing the White rice bowl! The abalone is still the delicacy dish in Chinese dinner table. Eat and be happy, whether the abalone is black, white, red, pink or green. Knowing how to cook this shellfish is enjoyment. Now Santa Barbara American restaurant serves abalone. Enjoy reading the book and eating this shellfish.
