She Was No Lady

The author, a catholic priest, gives his personal opinions and feelings during the first four months following Hurricane Katrina's devastation in his home town of Bay St. Louis. It was well written and gives the reader insight into how poorly the government deals with natural disasters. He pulls no punches about the lack of support from the national government as well as the hierarchy of the catholic diocese of his area. He also conveys the resilience and work ethics of the people in the area. I would recommend this book.

Tears that would not stop

After I received Father Tracey's book I sat down to read the beginning. It was not to be. I could not put the book down until I finished it. I was not prepared for the tears that would not stop. Knowing Father Tracey personally, I had failed to realize the mental anguish he suffered. He looked so strong and inspired all his parishioners. This is a must read book whether you went through Katrina or not.

On the ground account

This is a wonderful personal account of a reallly tragic disaster that has been politicized and misrepresented to the world. The author has a unique perspective in that he lost all of his worldly possessions and home...but had a bigger responsibility to his congregation, church and community. Excellent read if you want to feel EXACTLY what it's like to grow through a modern day catastrophe. It can happen anywhere under another form...tornado, earthquake, terrorist attack. Are you prepared?

Encouraging

I found this book to be a quick read full of wisdom, hope and lots of tears. Father Tracey is an inspiration to all who know him. Through the horrific events of Hurricane Katrina there is an opportunity for new beginnings and we as survivors have to embrace this experience and this personal journey.
