The sheoak, or she-oak, is a tree endemic to southern Australia. Not closely related to true oak, the she-oak is ambiguous in its etymological link to the common oak tree. Initial conclusions can prove suspect: while the she-oak strongly resembles a pine, it is really a flowering plant, and its seeming "cones" are woody fruit. Like the poems in this chapbook, the tree of another hemisphere resists quick conclusions.
