Good read for your family

This short and easily readable book is divided into two parts: a fictional story that reveals the principles Jack and Dona wish to teach, followed by a brief discussion guide to three key principles of raising your family effectively. Jack Eggar serves as president of Awana Clubs International, a curriculum and program for training children according to Biblical values. Churches around the world use Awana Club materials as key components of their ministries to children and families. In this new book, Jack and Dona Eggar extract some of those primary ideas, framing a fictional tale about a family that discovers it is headed in the wrong direction. Life for the church-going Millstone family seems to be fairly normal, yet actually it's going from bad to worse: small-time theft, on-line immorality and infidelity, and more. Instead of the perfect family they appear to be, the Millstones are struggling without a firmly grounded faith. Yet by discovering the truth and responding in obedience, the adults in the Millstone home are able to salvage their relationship and begin again. Well-written and effectively told, the Eggar's contemporary fable invites the reader to consider his or her family in light of Biblical truth. Rather than focusing on outward appearances, the book issues a call to a heart made right with God. In conclusion, the authors invite parents to train their children to love and obey God for a lifetime. Note about the reviewer: Dr. David Frisbie is executive director of The Center for Marriage & Family Studies in Del Mar, California. A frequently consulted expert on families in crisis and transition, David and wife Lisa have authored eight books and numerous articles on family life. Armchair Interviews says: Readers will learn from this family's story.

A great read for any family!

This is a very cool book that will appeal to a lot of people. There are two things that make it so good. First, the story itself is very entertaining. The plot has a lot of interesting twists and turns, and the characters are believable. Trust me, you'll start recognizing people from your own family as you read this book! Second, this book helps me appreciate my family more. The principles Mr. Eggar puts in are definitely sound, but even more than that, I found myself getting caught up in the story. I could see some of my own flaws, and it really helped me want to be the best Dad I can be. Give it a try!
