Steamy

The first one hit me really hard. I loved it. The first of a series really has to be a big bang for the author to grab the reader. The second one was good, too. This one didn't ring the same bells. And I didn't read them back to back, either. So there's mystery and angst and a huge overpowering MY WOMAN theme here that I can't quite come to terms with. I get it, in the story. I understand why and all, but it gets to be just too much at times. I think that's one of the reasons why I can't adore this series. But there's nothing wrong with the book, or the story. lots of feels, of genuine emotion and a strong sense of family. The writing is good- steamy love scenes, tender moments, strong action. Just not the same impact for me as #1.
