The best in the trio

I love series novels. This is the third in her "Shades" novels and by far the best one. I found myself really analyzing the story and trying to solve the crime along the way. A great escape novel!

Second time is even better.

What a great opening chapeter! Think of Detective Bev Henderson being as persistant as Columbo, but with the added flare of Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone. Enough plot twists to keep you guessing and an ending that you'd never expect. Please give us more Charlie Hudson.

Charlie Hudson gets better and better

Good solid police procedural with a laid-back Florida twist. Verde Key is where Ed McBain's characters head when they can afford a winter break. Lots of water, sun, Jimmy Buffet, booze, good seafood, and murder. Like Katherine V. Forrest's big-city detective Kate Delafield, Verde Key's Det. Bev Henderson has the stick-to-it-ness and likeability to be around a long time. Good follow-up to "Shades of Murder."

Another home run!

Charlie Hudson does it again! She gives us a tightly written plot, well rounded characters, and a wonderful twist at the end. The action moves quickly and left me wanting more.

Good Story, Great Characters

A friend recommended I read Charlie Hudson and I'm glad she did. The story keeps your interest and the characters seem so real. I can just picture Bev Henderson's mother and as a woman in a predominantly male profession, Bev's character responds in a way I can appreciate. Shades of Truth isn't exactly a police procedural, but again, the way Bev keeps digging into the case instead of accepting easy answers rings true. I'm also partial to the scuba diving passages, but I think non-divers can enjoy that also.
