A Witty and Naughty Delight....Satisfy your curiousity with this light and fun read!

To anyone who says sex is a shameful or dirty thing I say "shame on you". Sex is a beautiful and wonderful thing...when you understand it. This book titled "Sex: A User's Guide" by Stephen Arnott explores many aspects of sex and sexuality, including sex in the animal kingdom (face it, animals can teach humans a lot about sex), the fundamentals of sex, the history of sexuality, discussions about virginity (including where the term came from), and even chapters on aphrodisiacs, methods, Gays, Lesbians, Transsexuals, contraception, sexual perversions, the history of pornography, masturbation (and other hobbies), sex and marriage, sex and religion, and so much more! If you're interested or curious about learning a little more about the birds and the bees, then this is the perfect book for you. It covers all the bases by taking each subject and briefly discussing or explaining it. This book provides a number of fascinating insights into various sexually related topics, and I guarentee you will read this book and come away from it with a fresh outlook and new knowledge the you'll just be dying to share with someone else. In addition to the serious aspects explored within this guide, this book also knows how to let loose and poke a little fun at sex. It includes many "fun facts" within every chapter which will sometimes shock and amaze you, while at other times make you laugh so hard you might wet yourself! (but hopefully you won't). An example of some of these Fun Facts are as follows: **In some zoos the staff aren't allowed to wear perfumes of any kind, because the civet musk they contain sexually excites the animals. **During the Middle Ages a popular type of shoe was the poulaine. These had enormously long pointed toes that were often stuffed with moss to stiffen them. Apparently one of the attractions of wearing poulaines was a variation on the game of footsie you could play under the table. It's said that men often wore them to banquets so they could stick them under the dress of a woman sitting opposite and tickle her between the legs! **In the nineteenth century the Aboriginal Wallabi tribe shook penises instead of hands on ceremonial occassions, and in some parts of New Guinea pulling someone's penis is a sign of goodwill. And there are so many more Fun Facts found within this book! Give it a try, I promise it'll be a real eye opener! Bottom line, this book is educational while at the same time highly entertaining, and I recommend it.

An erudite guide to everyone's favorite subject

Everything you wanted to know about sex (and quite a bit you didn't), but were afraid to ask. Lots of interesting facts presented in a light-hearted manner -- the perfect bathroom companion. If nothing else, your vocabulary will become more colorful. The author did an excellent job of researching this book; unfortunately there are no end notes. If you like this book, consider buying the companion volume, "Death: A User's Guide" which is (believe it or not) equally light-hearted and entertaining. Fun reading!

Great & Very MEMORABLE Book!

In searching for the perfect Christmas present, I came across this book and snatched it up b/c of the very eye-catching cover. Anyway, when I flipped through it -- I quickly fell in love the book. It covers a lot of the topics related with sex -- from animal kingdom sex (which BTW is quite interesting) to the history of sex, dildos, vibrators and it also has some information the prostitution, castration and whatnot. So yeah -- there's a lot of history and research put in this book... but that's not the great point -- the thing is, there are so many facts that you just didn't know until you read this book. From interesting tidbits like how 2 Taiwanese 78 yr. old grandmothers got arrested for prostitution to how some French guy left his 9 incher penis for his friend after he died... there are just a lot of outrageous to much more interesting things people have done in the past. Anyway, the only downfall 'bout this book is that it's just too short. Even though it's shy from 300 pages -- it's just not enough when covering an interesting subject like sex. But yah -- pick it up for its humorous and VERY interesting facts and whatnot. This is a GREAT stocking stuffer, b-day gift and well just about any other tame holiday out there. So yah, I'll give it 4 out of 5 stars! I knocked off a star b/c I felt that the book was a bit too short but it's VERY good. BTW, not only is this book great for the naughty people to curious seekers alike, but also for Anthropology and umm... History majors. The topic alone is most likely to interest anyone out there.
