Compelling tales with a poetic edge

This small collection of stories from a new writer is subtitled "Tales from Kashmir". All the stories are set in that country, which is a disputed territory on the border between India and Pakistan. Singh manages to write stories about soldiers and war that nevertheless retain a beautifully spiritual and poetic edge. I found this collection a delightful read.
