Definitely not my favorite from Victoria Holt.

I've read several book by this author throughout the decades and this one fell a little flat for me. It started out slow and really didn't pick up much. I had a hard time finishing it. This is my least favorite of hers. I feel like the earlier novels were her best and the later ones just lost their excitement.

I have read all of Victoria Holts books and this is by far the best! The story is very captivating and you will neaver EVER guess what the seacret that Chrispin has is, or that it is conected to the murder! I would definitly by this book! Victoria Holt is my favorite auther. The books of hers I would by are: 1. Seven for a Seacret 2. The Shivering Sands 3. Mistress of Mellyn

Interesting and Well Written

Don't believe what's written in the editorial review from Publishers Weekly. Read the book and find out for yourself how good it is. As one would expect from Victoria Holt this book is yet another winner. All of her books are easy to read, and she spins an interesting yarn. I agree that her stories tend somewhat to follow a pattern but as the other reviewer has already pointed out, this is what brings readers back to her time and time again. This book is as good as any of her other titles to start on if you haven't previously tried this author. You may also be interested to know that Victoria Holt wrote over 200 books (under several different pseudonyms). All I want to say to Publishers Weekly is - if the books are as bad as they say this one is why would a publisher have printed so many of her titles, and why would the author remain (to this day) so well-beloved to many readers all over the world. At the time of this review several of this author's books under the pseudonym of Jean Plaidy have just been reprinted. The Jean Plaidy titles are magnificent (if you like historical fiction) & they too are very easy to read.

A different story...

This year I started reading Victoria Holt's books. All of them are very interesting..and the trama of her books are excellent...the characters, too. I like this story, but I don't like so much the end of it. It is about a girl that when she born, her father left the house where his wife and him used to live. They used to go to a lot of parties...but the man of the house, didn't want to became a father, he was too young. The interesting part of the story starts when the mother of this girl become crazy, so she went to live with her kind ount to an other town. There the girl met two girls that will be her friends...they have different personalitis; one is shy and kind, the other one never stop toking : ) and she is not very kind..but she is a good person. In this town the girl met new people...some of them not very kind and others are a little bit crazy so she have to face some problems. I recommended you this book called "Las siete hurracas". Belibe me, the tittle of this book perfect for it. So, read it that you will not regrated. It an amazing book!!.
