ISBN 0307109100 - Despite the previous review, there is no battling wild lions in the book - a good thing, it being a book for little kids. Golden Books and Sesame Street rarely go wrong with titles for young readers, and this meets all expectations. Grover comes across his friend Marsha, who is babysitting for her younger brother, Max, while their parents are at work. When she tells him what babysitting entails, he begins to daydream of all the things he could do, if he was to babysit his cousin Emily. He thinks of all the fun things - like climbing and playing with toys - as well as all the responsible things - such as feeding and giving her a bath. He daydreams all the way home, where his mother meets him at the door with news - Emily's parents are bringing her to visit, and she would like to know if Grover would like to help take care of her! Thompson's text is perfect for little ones, no big words or overlong sentences; and Cooke's illustrations are wonderfully detailed without being too busy. - AnnaLovesBooks

Grover Takes Care of Baby

I liked this book personally because it had to do with babies. It made you understand how a little kid would take care of a baby. In the beginning Grover was playing ball and it rolled under a baby carriage. He noticed it was his friend Marsha and her little brother Max. So he asked her what she was doing and she said she was taking care of Max while her mom and dad went away. So, Grover said if I was babysitting my little cousin I would teach her how to climb a mountain. Battle a wild gang of lions, and everything in between. In the end his Aunt called and asked if his mom and him could watch his baby cousin. So, he ended up feeding her and babysitting her.
