"SERIAL Doesn't Start with a C" is the third book in the "Jasper, Street-Fighter and Me" series. The story, while a continuation of the second book in the series, may be read as a stand alone novel. The events surrounding the harrowing climax of "A Diamond in the Ruff" are relived by Maggie in a dream during the Prologue.For anyone who may not know my partners or me, my name is Maggie McKenzie, and I'm a private investigator in the firm "Jasper, Street-Fighter and Me". I'm the "Me" in the firm, Jasper is my border collie, and Street-Fighter is a big old tomcat that adopted Jasper and me about a year ago. Jasper and I are both retired from the United States Marines. I retired as a Major, and as a Military Police K-9 specialist. Jasper retired as a Sergeant, and, of course, was my K-9 partner. He served by my side for two tours in Afghanistan, plus one tour stateside. Street-Fighter is a feral cat. He showed up one evening, unannounced and uninvited, and won over both Jasper and myself almost instantly. He loves to play in the woods with Jasper and has taken to joining Jasper and me in our training sessions which we've continued ever since we retired. Only now, it's supposed to be our play time, instead of for real.
