Doris Platt has done her homework. She has managed to compile an amazing collection of inspiring stories that invoke all types of emotions. Mrs. Platt has taken stories from the rich and famous to the average everyday guy and linked them together in such a way that you have to smile in assurance that all is not lost in this world filled with so much gloom and desperation. Regardless of who we are, and what we do, we are still our only reflection of our own humanity. I enjoyed this book as I am sure you will too. It would make a wonderful gift to anybody that can appreciate the simple, beautiful things that make our lives worth living. Truely inspirational as we never know who these Sentinels are as we travel along the way.
More Than A Book -- An Invitation To Be Great & Grateful
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 19 years ago
In a world seemingly obsessed with material success and pop "icons," author-compiler-extraordinaire, Doris S. Platt, lays down her glove with this dazzling, inspirational book that gently (but-ever-so-profoundly) invites us into a realm occupied by the greatest of them all -- our Sentinels Along The Way. These are the huge souls and guides all readers will recognize in their own lives: the ones who made the difference often between their very survival or not; ability to cope or not; to have faith or not; to fight the good fight or not; to brave the unthinkable or not; and to dream the impossible or not. And with a courageous strength of conviction, this brilliant author-compiler has made her case complete by achieving this feat through an astounding array of true stories (written by a most impressive group of contributing writers, and a few celebrities drawn from a refreshingly crystalline well of many cultures and countries). You must buy this book! You deserve to feel great for the good you have done in this difficult life that we all share as part of humanity. You also deserve to remember, with gratitude (like the stories in Sentinels Along The Way) those who helped you get there. Oh, and the book itself is a work of art in design and composition -- a feast not only for the heart, but for the eyes as well.
