Some say leaders are born while others assert that it comes through humility, example, and passionate devotion to one's people. Some achieve greatness through feats at war and become warriors, emperors and or kings of their region. None of the above yard sticks applied to Sefo Fafanding Kinteh, son of Lang Kinte Mama and Bintou Manjang, who was born at Kinte Kunda Janneya village in the Lower Badibou and attended both Madarasa and Kinte Kunda Primary School from 1953 through 1957. He at the end of his primary Schooling continued his secondary education at Kerewan before commencing work at the Gambia Utility Cooperation department known as GUC. He did a preservice job as unqualified teacher followed by a teaching spree at various schools before gaining enrolment at the Teach Training College at Yundum. Graduated and taught for fifteen years at various schools. Fafanding Kinte was catapulted to chieftaincy In 1995 on passing of former district chief Sefo Kitabou Singateh. He turned a father figure to Lower Badibou, an adept administrator and one that kept the tribes together through communicative compromises. He was there for all but favoured none when brought before his court. He allowed the region to expand and explore by letting the youths and ladies have say in day-to-day operations of the villages. Yes, Fafanding Kinteh was a model village messiah that saw to it that villagers were not left stagnant at the bottom rung of development. This work is life and legacy of Paramount Sefo Fafanding Kintteh of Lower Badibou District NRD, the Gambia.
