Texas P.I. Quinn "Lucky" Bacelli had finally tracked down Marin Sheppard, a woman he was certain knew more about her missing criminal brother than she was letting on. And Lucky wasn't the only one with that suspicion. Someone was willing to kill Marin and her son to get information. After coming to the rescue of the beautiful single mother and her baby boy, Lucky learned about her dangerous past and offered a pretend engagement. But as the connection between Marin's child and a ruthless killer was revealed, the case became frighteningly more real than any he'd ever taken. And standing in as fiancé and father had left Lucky with everything to lose....
P.I. Quinn "Lucky" Bacelli is looking for his sister. A year ago she was at her work laboratory when there was an explosion but her body wasn't found. He's tracking the sister, Marin Sheppard, of his sister's boss, who is also missing. He thinks Marin will contact her brother now that she is on her way home to her parents' ranch to see her grandmother. Lucky feels an attraction to Marin from the first moment he starts tracking her some time ago but talking to her on the train taking her to her parents only reenforces it. She has a 8 month old son, Noah, by her former fiancee, who really is dead. Things become tense right away as the train has an accident, Marin asks Lucky to take care of Noah no matter who or what happens. Now begins the story of what really happened to Marin's brother, Dexter, and Lucky's sister, Kinley. Lots of sexual tension, mayhem, and down right ugly feelings. Marin's parents Lois and Howard are trying their best to take Noah from Marin and now Lucky is in the middle of it and he wants to protect Noah and his moma. I enjoyed this book! I was able to read it in just an afternoon--I couldn't put it down. Lucky is a great hero and Marin is a good heroine too
