Good Radio Hobby Book

This is a good book for an intermediate or advanced radio hobbiest. I thoroughly enjoyed the parts about the history of various aspects of radio equipment and I found many useful design and construction tips. The circuits described can be used in your own radio projects, or just to give insight into doing your own designs. The author touches on just about every area that a ham radio enthusiast needs for homebrewing equipment. The book is also good for someone just interested in radio hardware, such as restoring old equipment. Included is theory about many aspects of electronic design related to radio, in sufficient depth to add to your understanding of electronics in general.

the best for understanding RF

This book has all the necessary for starting with RF, if you have already knowledge of electronics it will be very usefull, it has all the basics of frequencies and even how to wind an inductor or how to build an antenna.

Great for the RF technician

This is a great book on wireless technology for persons starting out in RF electronics, as well as for new RF technicians and ham radio operators. Carr's book explains RF capacitors, coils, transistors, receivers, propagation, antennas, mixers, amplifiers, impedance matching, filters, the Smith chart, etc. in an easy-to-understand way.

Excellent introduction to radio technology

This book was obviously written for those with prior knowledge of electronics. It does an excellent job introducing and explaining the concepts of radio frequency technology. Standard AM, FM and SW broadcast band is used for most examples. Light on math, but not afraid to throw in an equation or two where needed. More than a few typos, so read carefully! Good for radio amateur, technician or engineer who needs to understand the basic concept.
