Readers Will Be Rewarded

In Clara Gillow Clark's beautifully written Secrets of Greymoor , the third book in the Hattie series, Hattie Belle Basket wants to take away the worry and sadness that troubles her grandmother. In Hattie's attempt to make everything right, she keeps some bad news a secret and decides to take matters into her own hands. When she finds in her dead grandfather's suit pocket, "a leather book so small it seemed made just for secrets and hiding" she feels she is on her way to solving all Grandmother's difficulties, but all is not that simple. Readers will be treated to rich language and a strong sense of place, and will identify with Hattie's worries, fears, and her desire to make friends and be accepted. Days after I finished reading Secrets of Greymoor, I missed Hattie, and I hope I meet her again in another novel as she encounters new experiences on the next part of her journey.

I JUST FINISHED READING SECRETS OF GREYMOOR--SEQUEL TO THE HATTIE SERIES BY CG CLARK. IT IS A VERY INTERESTING READ AND FOR A STORY OF AN EARLIER TIME IT SURPRISINGLY PARALLELS TODAY'S CURRENT EVENTS. I LOVED THE GRANDMOTHER WHO WAS ABLE TO ACCEPT THE NEED TO DOWNSIZE AND YET MAINTAIN HER DIGNITY AND KEEP HER FRIENDSHIPS. REMINISCENT OF THE CHARACTER OF MY OWN GRANDMOTHERS. A MUST READ FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS. ALREADY ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR THE NEXT HATTIE BOOK. WAY TO GO CG CLARK

Hattie's spunky, proud and vulnerable spirit keeps you turning the page.

In The Secrets of Greymoor Hattie once again stole my heart. She's spunky, proud and her vulnerable spirit pulls me in right at the beginning. Hattie's antics in this book and her resolve to find a solution to the dilemma she believes she helped create only makes me believe in her all the more. Job well done - looking forward to her reunion with Pa and eventually back to the Academy ... will there be more? I hope so!

Bravo! Clark has done it again!

Clark weaves a tale of mystery and intrigue around young Hattie's life, while adding the colorful threads of rich historical detail she is so good a delivering. Plucky Hattie is back once again in this third book in the sequel. Can Hattie find the hidden treasure in time and save her families historic home? Will she be able to face her friends and tell them the truth about who she really is? What will happen when the students at the common school find out she's not really a rich princess after all? Will she be able to look Pa in the eye and tell him she pretended he was something he was not? Read and find out. If you have a youngster (or oldster!) who would like to peek through window in time, back to the days when Hattie lived, start with Hill Hawk Hattie, then read Hattie on Her Way. Finish up with The Secrets of Greymoor. Will there be a fourth book? Only Clark knows, but we can hope!

Secrets of Greymoor is a satisfying read.

Having met Hattie in two prior stories, I was not disappointed in this valiant young heroine's struggles to find resolution to the problems confronting her and her family. Hattie exemplifies the best of the American pioneer woman's spirit: feisty, courageous, persevering, responsible, self-motivated and caring. In her quest to discover the family "treasure" she finds the truest treasure known to humankind.
