very good book

I loved the book. I highly recommend the content of this book, it is just important to understand what you are getting into before you buy it. Out of my own personal experience having worked closely with developers all over the country for over a decade, this book is not really made for the individual that wants to become an overnight mega mogul developer like the ones building enormous skyscrapers in Vegas, Miami or Manhattan. It was written for the small builder that is creating a small project like a house or a fourplex. And eventhough the principals of construction are the same in these cases, when you get into large development you need to have started building small projects. For the reader looking to get into larger project I would recommend Jorge Perez's Book, Powerhouse Principles. But starting with this book is a great idea.

This is a MUST NEED for a beginning developer.

This is a MUST NEED for a beginning developer. - Mark Weiss covers a broad range excellent very detailed view across all the areas you need to cover prior to doing your first development. His views provide you with his tips and lessons learned over the year's hands on as a millionaire real estate developer, successful secrets of the business, and what to look out for. Excellent book and I will be waiting to read his others as they come available.

I found this book helpful

I just finished this book, and enjoyed reading it. Its written in simple enough english that its very easy to follow. As a person who works in the real estate industry, I didn't learn as much from this book as some might. But what I did learn will help me. This book is best for someone who isn't starting from scratch, which I really liked. Its nice to read a book that's based on reality, rather than the typical "earn millions without investing any of your own money...". The author's examples are all based on his own experiences, most of which turned out very well. I'll loan my copy to friends, which is a good endorsement of this book.

Finally, a NON-Carleton Sheets feel to development...

As a real estate developer I can really relate to a lot of the information. Too many books these days have that cheap, "Carleton Sheets" feel to them. Just read, you'll see. Unclear chapters, constant suggestions to semeinars and CD's or cassettes. Well, this book is no none sense. I can tell you though, if you are just starting out, and have no real estate knowledge what so ever, GOOD Luck! Real estate development is an artform. It requires tremendous risk, which the author acknowledges, but it also has tremdous rewards. This book should be more geared to those currently in real estate development. Its better to be running with the big dogs, then sitting on the lawn barking!

Great overview of the RE development process

My perspective is that of someone just getting started in real estate development. Mark Weiss' book "Secrets of a Millionaire Real Estate Developer" reads with a positive, upbeat, and encouraging tone. It illuminates the entire process involved in real estate development, discussing the team of professionals required to develop or rehabilitate real estate; and how to go about finding and evaluating prospective team members. The book also discusses how to evaluate different types of property, how to arrange financing, how to negotiate with a seller, how to market your product, tax considerations, and more. After reading this book, the only thing left to do is get out there, apply the lessons, and do it. Also, there is a glossary of real estate terms in the back of the book; I've found it very useful.
