"Secrets of a Jewish Mother" is a great book that is an easy read. In the first night, I was halfway though and had a hard time putting it down. Jill, her sister Lisa, and thier mother Gloria share some of the most touching, honest family stories I have ever read. I had no idea what to expect, but I thought it would be a little dry and boring - no way - The book is Quite Interesting, thoughtful, and very well written by a well educated group of women: a retired school teacher (Gloria Kamen), a successful real estate and small business professional (Jill Zarin), and a successful attorney and daily radio show host (Lisa Wexler). The book is organized by some very pertinent life topics such as Friendship, Dating, Beauty & Health, Education, Career, Marriage, Family, Money, Parenting and more. I especially enjoyed the section on Education - the emphasis on education cannot be stressed enough, especially for young women. I love that you devoted attention to the subject; it's so important. Thank you a thousand times for writing the book. It was a pleasure to meet you Jill and Lisa at the signing in Fl recently. It was the nicest book signing I've ever attended (been to a few in my day). I enjoyed the way you and Lisa talked about the book, how you wrote it, and then what you and she read & explained about certain parts - you guys were a cute couple as you interacted & were even funny without even trying. At the end you both even took a lot of time with questions and spent time with everyone for pictures too which was very generous. You and your family are very nice and I am so glad that your sweetheart Bobby is well. He is a great role model for what a good husband should be. Thanks again for writing a timeless book. Hugs xox
Pleasant and enjoyable read.

I'm an occassion fan of the show and decided to read the book after all the controversy and mixed reviews. I LOVED the book and I'm not Jewish. It was difficult to put it down. The authors provide a practical, common sense approach to many of life's situations we all go through. This book is the equivalent of comfort food. Highly recomend, it transcends all cultural backgrounds. I'm very surprised any harsh words were said about this book.
Great book, funny and great advice!

I was so happy when my daughters bought me this book for Mother's Day. I already like Real Housewives of New York, so I was very interested in reading this book. I wasn't sure what to expect, but whatever expectations I had, the book reached far beyond them. Being an Italian Mama myself I was pleasantly surprised at how many times I found throughout the book the values of these Jewish mothers were very much like mine. For as much as we think we are all different we are really all so much the same. The theme of Motherhood is what makes this book just about the best book I've read this year. The authors share tons of advice on a lot of different life topics, beauty tips, and some awesome recipes that I've already tried (my family loves them!). Having three different authors add their opinions on each subject made the book much more interesting than other books like this that I have read. Gloria's stories are very insightful and Lisa & Jill were not afraid to share experiences from their lives, good or bad. I appreciated the honesty. Considering the amount of advice, tips and insight into the Jewish culture I was also pleased how easily the book flowed from one chapter to the next. I'm pleased to say that my 16 year old has just began reading it herself. I am happy to say that this is a book I want my daughters to read. Thank you to the three authors of this book, as you have given me a summer reading experience to share with my girls and enrich my own life.
Love this book!

I am 28 with no kids and I love this book. I bought it because I was a fan of Jill Zarin. Now, I am not only a fan of Jill but also of Gloria and Lisa. Three great women! If you are looking for a book about family and love, this is the book for you! The book also has a great emphasis on education and career. Real stories of hard work and determination. They have all proven that hard work will get you everything you want in life. I have to say that because of their advice I have decided to go back to school. They have shown me how important getting my education is. I will carry the advice of these women with me always. People say that Jill is who she is because she married money. Not true!! After reading the book you will see that Jill has worked hard to get where she is. She had a career and her own money before she married Bobby. Jill and Bobby make a great team. Together they have been able to do so much to help others. I really admire these two! Ok, now back to the book. You do not have to be a mother or Jewish to enjoy. Great advice for any woman! Mazel Tov!!!
