Book Overview

Vampires They hunt in every major city, hidden by the crowds, shielded by disbelief. They are Killers, and their prey is human. Not "all" vampires are Killers. The Guardians of the Night sacrifice the superior physical and psychic strength that comes with feeding on humans to protect them. But the Guardians walk a thin line, for even a single kill could leave them helplessly addicted to murder. Jules Gerard has vowed that he will never become a Killer...

I liked it

I'm disappointed to see all the negative reviews. I thought it was great. Yea, this does have dark vampires in it, but the good vs. evil gives the story real tension and makes it a great page-turner. It was not a disappointment to me and I'm looking forward to reading more. Hey, all sweetness and roses can be boring.

Revenge Is A Confession Of Pain - Latin Proverb

This is the second book in the Guardians of the Night Series. Jules's transition from mortal to vampire was less than pleasant. His maker, Ian, not only betrayed him but did some unspeakable things to Jules that has caused a lot of pain in his vampire life. Since that time he has been part of the Guardians: a group of vampires protecting Philadelphians from Vampires like Ian. Ian is known as a Killer, a Killer is a vamp who kills mortals for food. Jules belongs to the other vamp population; he survives on a lamb's blood and milk concoction. With a recent tragedy fresh in his heart, he spots an article featuring his maker and begins to investigate the Baltimore, MD papers for vamp related crimes and brings them to the Guardians attention. Eli, head of the Guardians, knows Jules's main motivation is revenge and explains that they can not intrude on other territories. Jules leaves the meeting with the intent of going rogue, a major no-no in the Guardian realm. Hannah Moore is a PI who recently lost her partner, Carolyn, when she left to join the Guardians with her vamp fiancé, Gray, in the book Watchers in the Night (The Guardians of the Night, Book 1). Carolyn asks Hannah to accompany Jules to Baltimore to help him stay safe during the day; Hannah reluctantly agrees. These two couldn't be more opposite. Hannah is tough, sassy and tom boyish. Jules is refined and the metrosexual poster boy. They end up being the perfect balance for each other and it opens both up to find a mutual respect and some vulnerability in each other's normally tough facades. With the introduction of two new Killers to this series, Camille and her son Gabriel, the story takes on a sadistic and bone chilling tone, really bringing the bad side of vampires into the forefront. The characters in these stories are not one dimensional; with their real to life flaws and strengths they come to life on the pages. This story is a compelling mix of terror and titillation, deceit and discovery, good and evil and that hazy area in between, I love this series! Shadows on the Soul (The Guardians of the Night, Book 3) Hungers of the Heart (The Guardians of the Night, Book 4)

I loved it!!!

I just loved this book! It's a very powerful, sexy, romance that makes me want to read it again and again! The first love scene between Jules and Hannah is so intense and sexy at the same time (and so is Jules!!!grrr...baby...grrr!).I can't wait for the next installment of the Guardians series!!!!

superb paranormal romantic suspense

As a Guardian vampire Jules Gerard does not kill humans whom he protects from rogues of his species. Whenever he finds a rogue he kills it. However, Jules obsesses over one vampire, his former best friend Ian Squires, who not only betrayed him, he turned him. When he learns where Ian is, Jules plans to go after him; his superior Eli tells him not to go, but for the first time he ignores an order heading to Baltimore to kill Ian. The Guardians hire human Private investigator Hannah Moore to protect Jules. Though the vampire anticipates Ian waiting for him, he is clueless when it comes to the other participants as Eli has played a role that he prefers remain hidden from Jules. However, as the former friends prepare for their cat and mouse encounter, Hannah realizes someone else is manipulating the two vampires; now to get the obsessed Jules to understand that the price of his fixation may be her life. The second Guardians of the Night saga (see WATCHERS IN THE NIGHT) is a superb paranormal romantic suspense that grips readers from the moment Jules learns that Ian lives and goes after him. The story line is action-packed with rogue and guardian vampires and one female human sleuth making the Black universe seem genuine. Although it is Eli's secrets that propel the thriller, Hannah tries to keep her "client" from harming himself even it feels like trucks roll over her and Jules knows he willingly would die permanently to keep his Hannah safe. Vampire romance fans will cherish biting into this fun tale. Harriet Klausner
