Looking for a book for your inquisitive middle schooler who wants to explore the world of micro monsters? DK's Secret Worlds book should satisfy even the fussiest of young readers. Like all the DK books, fascinating information is conveyed in an attractive format,pages packed with fascinating facts and the most incredible photographs this side of an electron microscope. Young readers will enjoy the text, easily understood yet not condescending. The juxtaposition of short text segments and vividly colorful photos works well to keep the reader's mind engaged. For those with an insatiable thirst for microbe information, the book includes suggested web sites, still live and pertinent after all these years. Even this reader, far removed from the middle school years, found Mini Beasts captivating, informative, and not the least bit simplistic. I don't think this book will disappoint.
