It would just figure Eve Bailey would have the rotten luck to drop in on a body and a thirty-year-old mystery. And darn it all, Carter Jackson would be the sheriff determined to take on the cold case-- and Eve. In high school he had been one tall drink of water, and nothing had changed--not his smoldering eyes, his cowboy swagger or the way Eve felt about him. The Whitehorse sewing circle would surely be putting in overtime "quilting" sessions down at the community center, speculating whether Eve and Carter would have a second chance. But gossip was the least of Eve's problems. One of their own was desperate to keep local secrets buried deep in the Montana mountains. There would be an old-fashioned showdown when the truth was revealed.... And anyone could get caught in the crossfire.
I am flabbergasted by other person's review. Goodness, did we even read the same book!? This book was wonderful! It had well-balanced emotion, sophisticated character growth and it had some creepy, scary parts. I could go on but buy it, read it, and you'll enjoy it. I think the fact that it DID NOT have a love scene just added to the sexual tension that radiated off the pages. Keep on writing, Ms. Daniels, I'm hooked on your books!
Wonderful mystery!

Fast-paced, solid plot and great conflict between the hero and heroine. A wonderful setting and a darn fine read. Not sure where the one reviewer's reaction came from - I didn't agree with any of it. This is an entertaining book and is the first in Daniels' Whitehorse Montana series.
Author has a real connection with her setting and characters.

What I love best about BJ Daniels is the way she seems to connect with Montana. I always have the feeling I'm right there with the characters who fit so well in their setting. I thought the mystery in this one excelled and the realism of the townspeople made the story come alive. Once again, Daniels did not disappoint.
