Second Calling

A friend invited me to a book discussion group on Second Calling. The group was 45-55-year-olds. There was a LOT of enthusiasm as we discussed inspiring possibilites of new life & direction in the second half of our lives. Then, I asked several friends @ my church to read it. When we got together to discuss it, we were all so excited over what God could do with us that we started meeting once a month & have formed a group of 14 friends that have bonded & grown together for 2-1/2 years. We've accomplished a number of service projects, prayed for & encouraged one another, as well as others beyond our group! This book is about putting God in control of your life & experiencing all the wonderful things He can do in you. It also focuses on women as "soul-sisters", encouraging each other throughout our life times.

Great Book

As one who is on the early end of midlife, I found myself in a place, not of my choosing, where I had never imagined I would be. This book didn't say where to go. However it did say how to go. The right book at the right time with the right message. It is unabashedly Christian, without giving the answers. If you're facing midlife in crisis, or just facing it with sudden blocks of open time, this is a wonderful and inspiring book.

This book hits me where I live!

I had the opportunity to read this book in manuscript form, before it was published. I laughed, I cried, I nodded my head and said, "oh yeah, that's me!" As I read it (on an airplane) I started writing the names of the women I knew that abspolutely HAD to read it - that NEEDED to hear this message - on the front page. I put stars beside the names of the women that need it FIRST - they might not be able to wait until it was actually published. When I finished reading the manuscript, I counted the names . . . 36. The number with "stars" . . . 24. I've been in the book publishing business for almost 20 years. I'm an avid reader. This is one of the most important books I've ever read.
